Well, it seems to me that if somebody is in the educational field 625 3/20/02 - CONTINUING FY '03 SCHOOL BUDGET TESTIMONY business, one would have a broader concern than to merely think about it financially. One would think am I engaged in a business which is going to be helpful to the people of the City, to the youngsters, or am I there only as a bookkeeper ready to chop, chop, chop away at programs in order to make the books balance. MR. Doosey: Again, I'll go back to my prior testimony, sir. The business plan for the School District of Philadelphia that I've recommended focuses on the business aspects, not the academic aspects of the school district. I am free to make a recommendation, but I do not have a professional expertise nor do I feel that I can make the decision on academic programs. That is Ms. Farmby's area of expertise. If it is a financial or an accounting matter, I feel relatively confident in stating an opinion on it. Anything other than that, it's a recommendation and a recommendation only that senior managers, in their areas of competency, are free to accept or reject.
Thank you. I think it's quite clear from your testimony that your 626 3/20/02 - CONTINUING FY '03 SCHOOL BUDGET TESTIMONY concern is solely with finances, which I believe is the sole concern of the reform commission. I believe they're only interested in cutting and cutting and cutting. This year maybe it will be the Latin teachers in the middle schools and in the elementary schools. Next year it will be another version, probably two or three versions. Thank you, Madame President.
Thank you.
